Punjab Government is taking revolutionary decisions in education: Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond
Minister inaugurates infrastructure development projects worth Rs 91.36 lakh in Khanna Government Schools*
Khanna (Ludhiana), April 9
Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Wednesday stated that the Punjab Government is implementing revolutionary changes in the field of education and by upgrading the infrastructure of government schools to match that of convent schools, these institutions are being transformed into model schools that prepare students for success in today’s competitive environment.
Sond made these remarks during the inauguration of infrastructure development projects worth Rs 91.36 lakh at five government schools in the Khanna constituency, as part of the state’s “Punjab Sikhya Kranti” initiative.
At Government High School Bullepur, a boundary wall was constructed at a cost of Rs 18.75 lakh, smart classrooms were built for Rs 14.59 lakh, and new bathrooms were added for Rs 2.50 lakh. At Government Primary School Bazigar Basti Bhadla, a boundary wall was erected for Rs 1.68 lakh, new rooms were constructed for Rs 7.51 lakh, and renovations were carried out for Rs 3.44 lakh. At Government Primary School Galwaddi, two new classrooms were built for Rs 15 lakh, accompanied by two bathrooms costing Rs 2.31 lakh, and boundary wall repairs totalling Rs 3 lakh. At Government Senior Secondary School Rasulra, three classrooms were constructed for Rs 18.47 lakh. Lastly, at Government Primary School Majri, a boundary wall was built for Rs 4.10 lakh.
Sond stated that the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to meeting every need of government schools on a priority basis. He highlighted that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab Government has made history by increasing the education budget by 12 percent for the first time. Furthermore, principals and headmasters of government schools are being trained in Singapore, Finland, and at Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).
The Cabinet Minister also emphasized that students are our future, and the government aims to provide them with every possible facility. He also added the establishment of Schools of Eminence in every district to provide quality education for Punjab’s children.
In addition, to promote sports culture and protect youth from the drug abuse, the Punjab Government has planned to build playgrounds in every village across the state. Approximately 13,000 playgrounds will be established based on requests from village youth, with 4,600 already completed. These playgrounds will feature facilities for football, cricket, hockey, athletics, volleyball, handball, and more.
